Good News…

goodnewsbanner-tax

It is that time again…

tax-time watch

I am sure the IRS has heard it all. Here are a few that stood out….

“I was busy stocking up on blunt instruments ahead of the impending zombie apocalypse”
Ok, so no one’s actually used this one yet as far we’re aware, but it might not be as farfetched as you think. Scientists recently conducted research into what would happen if a zombie plague broke out and found that unless dealt with quickly and aggressively, it may result in the collapse of civilization. Given the overwhelming scientific evidence, you ought to be forgiven for taking precautions. What are your thoughts?

“I’ve been kidnapped by pirates”
A little controversial, but workable. Whatever you do, don’t mention Captain Jack Sparrow.

“I suffer from late filing syndrome”
A U.S. governor’s aide who failed to pay income taxes or file returns for five years pleaded in court that he suffered from ‘late filing syndrome,’ a medical condition caused by depression which only affected his ability to fill in tax returns. Unfortunately, the American Psychiatric Association didn’t agree with him. How depressing.

So, if you going to come up with a tall tale, make it a really good one.

Good News…

goodnewsbanner-agressive driving

We’re sharing tips to help you respond to an angry or upset motorist. Not just react to them. Aggressive driving behaviors can include intentionally running stop signs and red lights, tailgating, passing on the right, making sudden lane changes and leaning on the horn.

It’s important to understand how to handle aggressive drivers to help keep safe on the road. February is Aggressive Driving Awareness Month, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers these five tips to deal with stressful driving situations:

  1.     Make every attempt to move out of the way of aggressive drivers and into another lane.
  2.     Avoid eye contact with erratic or irate drivers.
  3.     Ignore offensive gestures and don’t return them.
  4. Don’t pursue aggressive drivers.
  5. Report aggressive drivers to the authorities by providing a vehicle description, license number, location and direction of travel.

And the next time your patience hit’s its limit, take a few slow, deep breaths through your nose, and exhale completely through your mouth.

This will calm you down, help relieve frustration and keep you safer on the road.

Steer Clear of Aggressive Driving
